Costumes on, Munich off-leash.
Bavarian carnival and other beautiful nonsense
If you add Bavaria to Karnevl, what you’ll get is a river of beer and surfers of fun. That’s what locals call fasching. There’s much more beer here than in the rest of Germany. The city turns itself into a bustling hub of activities: people with masks, tourists from all corners of the earth just wanting to experience the mix between Karneval and Oktoberfest.
The atmosphere here is as good as at the Cologne Carnival. Plus the Bavarian folklore is brought to life with top DJs and performances mixed with classical maßes of beer. This is the closest you can get to the Cologne festival in Bavaria.

Bokun
If you’re here early, you can head to squares like Viktualienmarkt and see the traditional dances. Later, that show culminates in rivers of people sampling beers like in the most carnival-like part of Germany. The Pub crawl’s speciality is combining a century-old tradition with cosmopolitan energy. You’ll hear Schlager or techno, electronic music, and EDM blasting like at the Love Parade, and you’ll also find street parties like at Deutsche Eiche.
The Pub crawl Munich integrates the real events. There will be camelle (sweets and chocolates), people in costumes, a bit of political satire—which is the German spirit of carnival and lots and lots of partying. It’s like your local village festivals brought to the metropolis of Munich, with lots of color and people with a carefree spirit very similar to the Oktoferfest party.

Your Carnival Night Package
The Pub crawl’s speciality is combining a century-old tradition with cosmopolitan energy. You’ll hear Schlager or techno, electronic music, and EDM blasting like at the Love Parade, and you’ll also find street parties like at Deutsche Eiche.
All the places we’ll visit we’ll be in walking distance, even if you decide to dress up as Popsicle.
Included shots (we see it every night) do help the group warm up fast. On fasching night we’ll raise a toast to the best disguise and for any other reasons suggested.
Your host keeps the crawl organised (Germany wise) without killing the madness. You can expect costume-fuelled icebreakers and help keeping the crew together.
The crawl gives you a pre-arranged route on an otherwise quite chaotic night. Definitely smoother group movement than trying to improvise your way through packed carnival doors
Reasons to join the fasching party pub crawl in Munich
The tour lasts for about four hours but the carnival spirit is day and night. The pub crawl is meant to be a tour, so don’t drink everything offered to you on the first bar.
The usual crowd will be there: students and erasmus and other free spirited young fellows. But do also expect people from all ages, couples and groups of friends.
It’s Bavarian folklore, street carnivals, guided parties, bars within walking distance, and a city that turns Carnival into something you can feel everywhere.
Attending fasching in Munich is that kind of festivity where you feel transported back in time to an unwinded territory. Yep, it’s that good.
Your Carnival Crawl Plan
Munich still expects basic organisation on this playful day. So, here are the important recommendations in a nutshell: arrive early, bring (physical) ID, keep your booking confirmation in your cellphone… And choose a costume that can survive dancing! The funnier the outfit, the better
Like every other night, the Pub crawl sets sail at 8:30 or 9, depending on how many attendants there will be.
Expect the exact meeting point in your booking email. But be sure it’s going to be an accessible and super central location. .
Venues can refuse entry in these scenarios: you don’t show them your (physical) ID or if you show signs of excessive intoxication or aggressiveness.
Costume is optional, but it’s what really sets the mood for the group, so at least wear a fake mustache if you’re a girl or bring your broom and laugh like a witch if you’re a boy.
It depends on the region. In Bavaria, people call it Fasching, but in reality the celebrations look a lot alike to the ones in Cologne. In Munich, the celebration evolves always from one central spot: the Tanz der Marktweiber at Viktualienmarkt.
It comes very close. Fasching and Halloween can be described as two sides of the same coin. Halloween is more of a spooky, horror-themed night that turns out to be very fun. Fasching is a daylight thing, way more colourful and satirical. You can dress as anything your imagination allows.
Karneval is associated with Cologne. There you’ll see huge parades and political satire. Fasching, on the other hand, is the word commonly used in Bavaria and Austria for the same celebration. In Munich you’ll find a twist if you get to the Viktualienmarkt on Rosenmontag.
Fasching parties are super loud and colourful, way less formal than a normal night out. People arrive in costumes and talk to strangers faster. The whole evening is like a shared joke. A Fasching pub crawl definitely adds structure to the madness: you get several venues, a host, shots, a social crowd and the feeling that the whole city has temporarily agreed to be weird together.
